The Tarte Shape Tape Blur Concealer Stick is the first thing I’ve ever bought of TikTok shop, and it was a good experience. Here’s my review of how well the concealer performs and whether it really is crease-proof on mature skin.
I’m actually writing this as I test out the makeup for the first time, so everything is fresh in my mind, and you get the play-by-play experience.
Tarte Big Stick Energy Duo
I went with the TikTok shop option because it had free shipping and came with a neat applicator brush. The brush on other sites cost almost as much as the concealer!
My order arrived pretty quickly, so my first TikTok shopping experience went well.

Mature Skin Review of the Shape Tape Blur Concealer Stick
The girl in the TikTok video I watched was promoting it as a great product for mature skin, but she appeared to be maybe 30 at the most. See the screenshot below.
At 50, I qualify a bit better to determine if this stuff is going to settle into my fine lines and crease around the eyes.
I chose the color 22N Light Neutral, which is one of the most popular colors. After giving it a try, I do wish I went a little darker.
The concealer claims to be 24-hour long-lasting wear, waterproof and crease-proof. Let’s see how it does!
First Impressions and Application
I prepped my face first with moisturizer, and the Tarte concealer stick went on very smoothly.
The concealer brush was different than the makeup brush I usually use. It has short, dense but soft bristles and it feels like you are buffing your face.
I thought it was interesting that when I was done, there wasn’t any makeup on the brush.
My skin felt a little weird I put it all over my face. Almost a little tight. I think moisturizing first is really important.
It did look very smooth, even when I looked in the magnifying mirror, but the shade overall was a bit too pale for me. I think it would look very nice in a shade closer to my overall skin tone.
It feels like it almost forms a barrier over your skin, which makes sense if it is waterproof. It did not transfer when I tried blotting it with white paper just to see if it would come off.
It also did not settle into any of my lines!
Review After Wearing for the Day
I put the makeup on later in the day, so I did not test out the 24-hour properties, but it did have some staying power!
I went outside in the 90-degree, humid Florida heat and put together a plant shelf. I was hot and sweaty, but my makeup didn’t budge. It also barely made a mark when I blotted with the white paper again, and I’m usually a shiny, oily person who leaves big grease splotches. (this is why I keep testing the white paper)
It still looked exactly the same as before, and had not settled into any of my creases. By now, makeup usually needs to be smoothed out around my nose, laugh lines and directly under my eyes.
At this point, I’m pretty impressed and thinking I might need to buy another one in a darker shade. I usually like to use two colors on my face anyway.
Before and After Tarte Concealer Stick Photos
Here are my unfiltered before-and-after photos. I got a BBL photofacial a few days ago, and I have some really dark spots that haven’t gone away yet. The concealer did blur them but didn’t totally make them disappear.
The photos on the Tarte website do make it look like dark spots would be totally covered. Maybe you need to add more to get full coverage like that.
After typing that, I went back and added a little more on top, and it did actually cover it quite well! It also touched up easily without getting weird and cakey- another bonus.
Conclusion: Did I keep Wearing Shape Tape?
It’s been about a month since I gave the Tarte Shape Tape Blur a try and honestly, it did not make the leap to my regular makeup routine.
One main reason was that the shade I chose was too light, and I felt like it made me look a little pale and unnatural. It looks lighter in person than it does in the photos!
I feel like I would be using it more if I had picked a better shade, so I may try it again with another color, and if I do, I will update this post.
