How to Wear Cosplay Headpieces without Elastic

Scarlet Witch, Loki and Enchantress are just a few superheroes known for their crowns that are worn on their face instead of the top of the head. I’m referring to these as “headpieces” for lack of a better term.

Many are made with an elastic band that is often too tight, or just annoying to wear around your head. I use a technique that holds your headpiece directly in front comfortably, without the need for elastic band.

Adding a Headband to Your Headpiece

Glueing a headband inside your headpiece makes it super easy to just slip it on the front of your face. I also usually add a small piece of soft fabric or moleskin to the front center, so it is comfortable against my forehead. You might want to do this if you’ll be wearing your cosplay for several hours.

The type of headband is very important- you don’t want it to be too small and too thin or it will be squeezing your head all day.

The best headbands I’ve found are the ones they usually sell at the craft store in multi-packs, by Darice. They are wide white plastic and are just the right fit. I’ve tried to get them on Amazon but keep ending up with ones that are too tight and too small. You want something similar to the Darice headband in the photos.

See How Easy it is to Wear

You can see in this video how I added the extra piece on the inside where the headpiece rests against my forehead.

I am pretty sensitive to things squeezing my head, and this is the only way I can wear one of these types of headpieces all day without getting a headache.
